Meet The Publisher and Contributors…
Meet Elaine, the creative spirit behind Local Break magazine. Enjoying a lifestyle that revolves around beach volleyball, hiking, biking, yoga, and most importantly– surfing. Surfing became part of her lifestyle when a tribe of women friends became her surf squad, inspiring and supporting her on and off the waves. The desire to surf alongside her kids became another motivating force, leading to unforgettable moments like sunset surfs with the family.
From volunteering at special needs surf camps to building homes in Peru and empowering teenage girls through surfing, Elaine embodies the transformative power of surfing beyond the break.
Elaine’s mission at Local Break Magazine is clear – to provide a go-to resource for everything surf and to foster a positive community that supports every individual passionate about the sport.
Meet Lorenzo, a local and dedicated surf and skate coach who brings the spirit of the waves to life.
Today, Lorenzo shares his passion and knowledge of surfing with a wide range of clients of all ages and skill levels. He gives them technical guidance and especially enjoys teaching them to believe in themselves and help conquer their fears both in and out of the water.
Known affectionately as the “great connector” and the coach that cares, Lorenzo holds a special place as the unofficial mayor of his local break, Barneys. His warm and friendly demeanor extends beyond the waves, creating a sense of community among surf enthusiasts.
With a profound belief in the power of the ocean to unite, inspire, and transform, Lorenzo’s is dedicated to fostering a vibrant and inclusive surfing culture through Local Break Magazine.
Meet Skye Deitelbaum, our spirited Director of Sales who effortlessly blends her love for surfing with her expertise in cybersecurity.
Skye’s surfing journey began in Ecuador, where she fell head over heels for the waves, and now, she’s dreaming big about competing someday soon. When she’s not riding the surf or navigating the digital world, you can find Skye skateboarding, skiing, exploring new places, or hanging out with her three-legged pup, Jelly Bean. Always striving to improve and deeply rooted in her North County community, Skye brings a contagious energy and adventurous spirit to everything she does.
Andres Weishaupt is a talented photographer, videographer, and drone pilot who captures the beauty of the world through various lenses. Nine years ago, he made the decision to move to Encinitas, drawn by the waves and the vibrant surf culture at our local break.
Living the coastal lifestyle, Andres immerses himself in the scenic wonders that surround him. He is sharing his talents and photographs with our community and Local Break Magazine. Known for his infectious optimism, Andres is a beacon of positivity. Beyond the viewfinder, Andres is an avid outdoors enthusiast who finds solace in the embrace of nature. His love for surfing and the Ocean goes hand in hand with his appreciation for the outdoors, creating a harmonious balance between his creative pursuits and his connection with the sea.
